ICR

Energy Case Study

Situation

ICR was retained by this small-cap oil and gas group to educate investors and raise awareness among U.S. capital markets, and to increase industry awareness in the UK and Europe.

Strategy & Tactics

ICR succeeded in getting the Company presentation slots at the two biggest energy conferences in the U.S.–Barclays and Credit Suisse–neither of which had research coverage on the Company. Both conferences put the Company's story in front of a global Energy and Power (E&P) investor audience for the first time. ICR also arranged roadshows with top investors during the conferences. ICR provided an analysis of the top U.S. shareholders of the global E&P group and began targeting them through and around major energy conferences. Additionally, ICR provided the Company with real-time feedback from the U.S., allowing management to track global trends and moves from U.S. E&P companies and investors.

Results

ICR's efforts with the sell-side resulted in new research coverage from Barclays and Deutsche Bank. Buy-side efforts resulted in nearly 10% U.S. shareholding; one-year prior there were no meaningful U.S. shareholders. ICR continues to refine key communications, increasing awareness with potential shareholders prior to conferences, roadshows, and earnings calls. As of October 2010, the Company's market cap increased to £345m from £169m, ahead of increases for both the AIM index and E&P peer group.
