Payments & Financial Technology Case Study #1
Situation
This large-cap, world-renowned credit card/payments brand retained ICR to educate the capital markets prior to its IPO.
Strategy & Tactics
ICR worked with the Company on key tactics to achieve their objectives. ICR provided an analysis of the payments market, determined the key influencers, and began targeting them through one-on-one meetings, conference participation, and management briefings to articulate the merits of the Company and its business. ICR also created materials to explain the Company’s business model in detail, and organized its first ever analyst day.
Results
ICR’s efforts were critical to improving key-influencer opinions, primarily sell-side and industry research analysts, including two of the client’s most significant skeptics. A 100+ page analyst report devoted solely to the client (a unique accomplishment for a private company) was published, and two highly successful analyst days with over 90% attendance from key analysts took place. These views were then used as third-party sources in the business, financial, and trade media.
As part of the consultative process, ICR continually refined key communications and messaging—efforts that have helped add to the valuation the Company realizes today. The Company’s IPO was the largest of the year in the U.S.
