Jim leads the Healthcare PR practice at ICR and has more than 25 years of experience providing strategic communications counsel and support to emerging and multinational biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies. He specializes in corporate reputation, scientific and marketing communications, stakeholder engagement, crisis management, and patient advocacy and education.
Jim implements multi-channel public relations programs to support the development and commercialization of prescription and consumer healthcare products and helps clients raise their profile in the investment community and pharmaceutical sector.
For 18 years, Jim worked as a communications executive within the pharmaceutical industry. He was Senior Director of Corporate Affairs & Communications at Purdue Pharma, where he led external and internal communications. In this role, he successfully positioned the company as an industry leader and responsible corporate citizen. He also managed several high-profile crises related to product liability, corporate restructuring, and government investigations and regulatory actions. Prior to joining Purdue, Jim was responsible for corporate reputation, internal communications, and day-to-day media relations at Boehringer Ingelheim. He was a key player in a multi-national initiative to create a unified global brand for the company.
In addition to his in-house experience, Jim has held senior-level positions in the life science and healthcare practices of several PR agencies, including Cooney Waters Unlimited, Burns McClellan and Fleishman-Hillard. Jim is a graduate of the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA.
